I keep a movie log in my paper journal, so I figure why not keep a log online too.
This will not be a review site, sometimes just my own personal reflections that might only make since to me (this is just meant for me BTW, but if someone else follows that is great too)
For the most part I mainly watch Horror and "genre" related movies, but On-Demand services cause me to watch some ridiculous things I might not usually watch (late night...nothing is on...trying to go to sleep, put on brainless movie).
If I happen to watch a mention worthy television show I might mention that here too.
Way back before this movie came out Lionsgate was at a convention passing out free promotional items and posters. Shane and I grabbed a Bug poster as well as most of the other free crap. At some point we ended up puting it on our ceiling as a filler with intent to watch it and take it down if we didn’t like the movie (which reminds me, I need to take down that Infection poster that has been up there 2 years after seeing and hating the movie). So the movie has been out for a while now, we put off watching it due to really bad feedback (not that I normally care). So the other night I saw it was On-Demand and gave it a shot.
Ashley Judd is white trash living in a motel/efficiency apartment. She is lonley and drinks a lot. The phone keeps ringing, nobody is on the other end. She goes out to the bar one night with her friend they end up back at her place with a guy they just picked up at the bar. Her friend leaves in a hurry and left the guy behind. They just met, he is a little odd but she lets him stay the night anyway, sleeping in seperate beds. The next morning the guy is gone and her murdering/abusive ex-husband who was just released from jail was there. He beats her up a little, the odd guy returns with food, the ex leaves. The two have a conversation over breakfast. We learn she had a 6 year old son who she lost(or was kidnapped) from a grocery store 10 years prior. By this point we already know the guy is paranoid and thinks everything is a conspiracy. Over their rather depressing conversation they decide to get it on. They fuck. She tells him she like having a man around and wants him to live with her. They are in bed, he gets bit by a bug. She doesn’t see them. He says they are all over. They have a discussion about him getting bug killer the next day, she says she will call an exterminator. That sets him off, he is worried that someone will come in and see him. She accuses him of not being honest with her and being a con, he won’t tell her why he is so paranoid, they get mad at each other and he leaves, she cries hysterically in the bathroom. He comes back and through the bathroom door explains that he was in the military and the government used experimental drugs on him and there were side effects, that he escaped and went AWOL. The government was looking for him that was why the exterminater could not come. From that point on they lock themselves in this efficiency with the occasional visit from the friend or ex-husband. They have fly paper all over the place they both have rashes and scratches all over their body, scratching themselves like meth adicts. There are no bugs, this guy is crazy and he has brought the crazy out in her too. It becomes evident that she too was crazy from the begining, the phone calls were all in her head, her waiting for the call from her son that never happened. This guy just pushed her over the edge.
I love this movie and I almost want to give it a higher rating but it isn’t quite epic enough. I want to watch it again to see the subtile things that would now be obvious now that I know the outcome.
People become zombies when they die, they live with us, they are not flesh eaters and apparently being a zombie who survies off of eating raw meat gives you horrible headaches. There is a crew of zombie haters who do not want them around and form a zombie killing militia. We watch this chick who is killed by her dumb guido boyfriend (who is in the militia) as she copes with being a zombie. She goes to a support group to help her through it, she also buys make up just for zombies to hide the fact that she is undead. She is trying to live her life as normal. One day after her support group she hooks up with a delinquent group of zombies who have realized eating humans make you feel great and the headaches go away. The militia raids their house and discover what is going on. From this point on it is basically the militia trying to hunt down the girl.
If it weren’t for the digital film quality and the horrible acting from the dumb guido and the gross ginger militia leader girl it is an alright movie. For the most part the story line was decent if you exclude (like I did) the part about this goddess the human eating zombies worship. Conidering how obviously budget this was the gore was great.
This guy works in a morgue, he has an obession with hair and whenever a girl with pretty hair ends up in the morgue he cuts it off and sells it to beauty salons for hair extensions. This one chick who was found dead inside of cargo crates filled with hair ends up at this morgue. When she arrives she is bald, but eventually her hair starts to grow. The worker takes her home, her hair continues to grow and grow. He cuts and sells her hair, the girls who recieve it as extensions end up dead. The hair is possesed by the woman who it came from. There is a whole back story going on about a girl who is apprenticing at a salon where the guy gave samples of the hair to and they tie in together.
With a lot of Japanese sometimes it is hard to tell their intent, if they are taking themselves seriously or just out to make a wacky film. During one of the final scenes it is obvious that they were just having a good time.
This movie has been sitting in a “to watch” pile next to the DVD player for almost a year now and I’ve been wanting to watch it for longer than that. Such a good movie! Its sad and depressing but still is able to be slightly humorus without breaking the mood.
We had a free rental code from Redbox so Shane picked a random movie from there and he picked Saw 5. Shane and I are not really Saw fans, we just watch them for the sake of watching them I guess, You basically know what you are getting into and by the time you watch the first couple you already are familiar with the franchise and you figure why not just continue to watch them regarless of the quality of them. These movies get worse and worse with each sequal. The characters get more and more boring, more and more unattractive (with an exception of Dexters girlfriend on “Dexter”), I have a hard time watching movies with ugly people in it. So yeah, it sucks, I knew it would. I know the next one will suck but I know we will watch that too (on DVD of course)
About a little boy you wis kinda odd, he is akward and gets bullied at school, he has no friends. A little girl moves into the apartment building and they soon become friends. The little girl is a vampire, her “father” like character kills and drains the victims of their blood to bring back to her. He dies so she is left on her own. This is a very sweet movie but not sweet in a cute way. This might be my second favorite vampire movie next to Martin. I might have given this a higher rating if I had not been forced to watch the dubbed version (broken remote) the dubbing was very distracting.

My rating might not be fair since I fell alseep during the last 20 minutes or so. I have a hard time getting into sci-fi and it is hard for me to stay focused if there isn’t at least one attractive person to look at. If Steve Railsback is your most attractive cast member there is major problems. It started off alright but then there was a MAJOR downtime and that is where I dozed off. Shane told me that the only boring part was during the time I fell asleep.

This film takes off where Feast 2 ended, literally. Two & three were filmed at the same time and when this movies starts exactly where the last left off with a mini recap to remind you.
I really enjoy the Feast franchise, these films are nasty, gross, and WAY over the top but does not take it’s self too seriously and is pretty darn funny at the same time. This installment was not my favorite and quite possibly if I had not been a fan of the other 2 I might not have liked this one very much at all. You’ve become familiar with the characters from the last movie but half way through this they start introducing several new characters, (regardless of how short their screen time might be) I think that is where this might have went wrong for me.
It is a recommend if you are a fan of the previous 2 Feast movies but as a stand alone not so much.
I could not find a trailer for the movie but here is a clip (I think)

I usually love movies featuring white trash, that familiarity reminds me of home. ;)
This started off promising. A trailer park full of what you would expect live there, all the stereotypes are there. This chick Norma is meeting up with her boyfriend, a couple of guys from the trailer park doesn’t want it to happen, there is a confrontation and they beat her up and accidentaly kill the boyfriend they leave them there. Someone on the side of the road gives her a gun or something. She goes back to the trailer park to take revenge, killing the folks and setting fire to the place as well as her self.
Here is when things start to change. A group of kids and a pastor are in a bus going to a church camp or something. The bus crashes (like it does) during a rainy stormy night and they end up at this what seems to be abandoned trailer park. They soon see that there is someone living there, it is the Norma. She takes them in, and gives them a place to stay through out the park. She keeps having to reapply her face as it keeps falling off, she is undead, as well as the rest of the trailer park inhabitants. They all take prey on these loser kids.

This is one of those movies everyone around my age remembers watching when growing up, but for some reason I had never seen it. I don’t understand how that happened, I’ve been a genre fan ever since I was REAL little, I watched Up All Night and Monster Vision religiously and had Cinemax but somehow I missed this one.
Two sisters wake up one morning to discover everyone is gone. A comet had flown by and eradicated everything not indoors. I can’t remember how but people start turning into zombies, the few people who survived the comet are now being hunted by the zombies. The sisters end up at a radio station where they meet a truck driver, it seems like these 3 are the only ones left. They get on the airwaves in hope for help and scientist come to their rescue. Now the survivors are guinea pigs to find out how to reverse the effects.
I fell asleep somewhere after they are captured so I don’t know the outcome. I need to finish it.
